Beer Blast 2014 at Swan Lake Resort

Join us at Putter's Bar and Grilles located in the Clubhouse of the Golf Course on Saturday, June 28th for Beer Blast 2014.  This has become one of our signature summer events at Swan Lake Resort.  It is a fun night with friends that happens to includes the opportunity to taste some of the greatest Craft Brews the area has to offer.  We will also have live entertainment provided by Joey Garcia and The Lou Dogs.

Specific Event details are as follows:

Beer Blast 2014 Community Benefactor:

Every year we choose a benefactor for this event.  For Beer Blast 2014, we have chosen Sunflower Farms in Plymouth, IN.  Sunflower Farms is a community garden that is beginning its service to Marshall County in 2014.  Sunflower Farms will provide a local source of fruits and vegetables to those in need.  They will educate families about the benefits of gardening and cultivate a community of individuals committed to sustainable land use.  They will encourage their families to share their harvest with others, including the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.  While starting small in 2014, with our help they can be a very important part of the Marshall County Community for years to come.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Putter's Bar & Grille at Swan Lake Resort on Saturday, June 28th for a great night of fun.

Demo Day 2014 at Swan Lake Resort

Join us at The Academy at Swan Lake Resort for Demo Day 2014.  The event will take place on Saturday, June 7th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  We will have Nike, Ping, Callaway, Titleist, Mizuno, Cleveland and SeeMore Putters joining us.  If you would like to sign up for an appointment with any of our vendors, please call the golf shop at (574) 935-5680 x750.  Reservations are not required, but certaintly help us and the manufaturer representatives plan the day.  This allows us to offer the best possible experience to our custom fit clients.  

Everything Drivers, Woods, Hybrids, Irons, Wedges and Putters will be on display.  There will be 1000's of combinations to demo or get custom fit for.  Plan to join us on Saturday, June 7th.

PLYMOUTH, IN – The top community college golfers from across the United States will be coming to Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth next week for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Division II Golf Championship.

Over 140 of the nation's best junior college golfers from a total of 43 teams will be competing in the event. Practice rounds start on Sunday, May 18th and continue through Monday. Round one action begins on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 a.m. and will conclude on Friday with round four.

With two beautiful 18 hole championship courses, Swan Lake Resort golf pro Chad Hutsell said pairing with Ancilla College is a great partnership. "Swan Lake Resort is pleased and honored to host the NJCAA National championship. Working with Ancilla College to bring the championship to Plymouth and our resort has been a real pleasure. As Tournament director and for the entire staff at Swan Lake Resort, I am pleased to welcome the NJCAA Golf Championship participants and spectators. We are ready to showcase our beautiful resort and provide a fun and challenging, yet memorable experience to all contestants," Hutsell remarked.

Ancilla College athletic director, Gene Reese, commented on the importance of this event for Ancilla and the community: "What tremendous national exposure for Ancilla College. It is a great honor and opportunity to host a national junior college tournament. Plus we have an ideal venue with Swan Lake. We are excited for May 20th to arrive. This is huge! The best junior college golfers from all over the United States will be at Swan Lake next week. Perhaps we will see a future PGA player like Bubba Watson. If you love golf, I recommend that you to take the time and watch this tournament."

Charger golf coach Marc Hayden added, "It is an honor to be the host for the NJCAA DII Golf Championship. I look forward to an exciting week. The opportunity to work with a PGA Pro such as Chad Hutsell is a great experience."

The public is invited to watch all four rounds. A four day spectator pass is available for $40.00, while single day passes are $15.00. Tickets are available at Swan Lake Resort, starting on the first round of play on Tuesday.

Notes pertaining to NJCAA Division II Golf National Championships

-This event will be contested on the 7112 Yard, Par 72 layout of the Black Course from Tuesday, May 20th – Friday, May 23rd. 

-Swan Lake Resort was also the host facility for this event in 2012 where 128 Players represented 42 schools from 17 states. 

-For the 2014 event, we have approx. 140 players representing 43 schools from 18 states.  This includes at least one player representing 21 of the Top 25 teams in the latest National Poll.  This should be an extremely strong field. 

-Another addition to this year’s field is that Ancilla College (Donaldson, IN) will be competing in the team event.  4th Year Coach Marc Hayden has been working towards this goal of his team playing in the National Championship on their home course.  This goal will be realized when the Chargers tee it up on Tuesday morning. 

Some stats from 2012:

•   Winning Team from 2012 was South Mountain (AZ) CC, followed by Tyler (TX) JC and John A. Logan (IL). 

•   Winning Individual from 2012 was Ryan Mulvaney of Tyler (TX) JC, followed by Jimmy Kozikowski and Jake Argento both of South Mountain (AZ) CC.

•   Top 10 Individuals had a four round Average of 74.5 or better with the winner finishing with a 4 round total of 283 (-5).

•   Top 25 individuals averaged below 75.75 for 4 rounds.

•   Top 50 individuals averaged below 76.75 for 4 rounds.

•   Top 100 individuals averaged below 80.5 for 4 rounds.

Swan Lake Resort is excited to welcome Brett Wisons this Saturday, May 10th.  Brett was raised on a unique amalgam of music ranging from vocal powerhouses Sade, Jeff Buckley and Edwin McCain to rock bands Pearl Jam, Eagles, the Sundays and the aforementioned Hootie. Dickies at Swan Lake Resort Launches New Menu

As the weather finally starts to turn and the colors of spring begin to pop, Dickies at Swan Lake Resort thought now was a great time to launch something new and fresh as well.  Chef Zachary Lucchese has created a wonderful new menu for all of our guests to enjoy.  There are still a lot of your favorites from the last menu including the Cowboy Steak, Pig Wings and SLR Burger.  But, he has also added some wonderful new items including Grouper, Jumbo Fried Shrimp and a Bison Burger.  Click the link below for the entire menu.

Swan Lake Resort is excited to be partnering with the South Bend Silver Hawks as the sponsor of the Home Plate Suite at Four Winds Filed at Coveleski Stadium.  This suite gives us a unique opportunity to showcase the resort.  The suite, which holds up to 50 guests per game, is decorated in a Swan Lake Resort theme.  It is located directly behind home plate and gives a great view of the game.  The South Bend Silver Hawks provide a family friendly atmosphere while showcasing the up and coming stars in Major League Baseball.  If you get a chance this summer, make the drive up to South Bend and take in a ball game.  You will not be disappointed.

Swan Lake Resort is excited to announce that we will be opening the Silver Course tomorrow, April 2nd. I promise this is not an April Fools Joke. It won't look like the attached picture yet, but it will be good to get out there. We will be allowing carts, depending on rain tomorrow, in the rough only. We will also be opening the driving range tomorrow as well. We will be using the tee on the Southeast side of the range to protect the main two tees until we start to see some growth on them. Local Golf Professional named 2014 PGA Merchandiser of the Year

Plymouth, IN - Chad Hutsell, PGA Head Golf Professional at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, IN, has been named the recipient of the 2014 PGA Merchandiser of the Year Award for Resort Facilities in the State of Indiana.  This is his second nomination and first time winning the award.  It is also the 3rd time in the last 8 years that Swan Lake Resort has garnered this honor.

Hutsell joined Swan Lake Resort as the PGA Head Golf Professional in January of 2012. Past experiences that have molded Chad’s merchandising background include stops at Highland Golf & Country Club (Indianapolis, IN), Plymouth Country Club (Plymouth, IN) and The Course at Aberdeen (Valparaiso, IN). 

In his current role, the Brownsburg, IN native along with the PGA Professional Team of Brian Natzel, PGA (Director of Instruction), Clint Miller, PGA (Assistant Golf Professional) and Matt Hovermale, PGA (Assistant General Manager) ensures that the retail business at the facility lead the industry in terms of service levels, aesthetics, product offerings, guest experience, recognition and profitability.
“Our philosophy is derived from a team of golf professionals around the two themes of the customer experience and facility sales and profit goals.” Says Hutsell. “Our emphasis is providing the best possible guest experience by first selecting service and hospitality oriented personnel for the Golf Shop and Academy and providing them the training and tools to assist customers in a knowledgeable and timely manner.  Then we analyze, observe, ask and listen to determine the correct product mix that appeals to our guests.  We select vendors that provide the quality products that fit our needs at prices that are good for our guests and for our bottom line.”

This award nominates Hutsell and Swan Lake Resort for the National Merchandiser of the Year award to be presented at the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL
